Dominican Children

We have traveled so often to the Dominican Republic and enjoyed the sea and the sand...soaked up the sunshine and taken all the beauty the island had to offer. About ten years ago, Bob and I decided to bring something we could leave behind each visit in exchange for the sharing of their climate, culture and friendship. At first we only brought toys, a suitcase or two. Later we added children's shoes and clothing and much needed toiletries. We bring essentials like toothbrushes, apparel, and seeds and we also bring unessentials like barbie dolls, nail polish and balloons. We have made friends and our hearts are full of love for the children and the families whose lives ours touch. Here are some of the faces we love so dearly.

These children live in the jungle just off the road near Rio San Juan. They use an outhouse and bath from a barrel of rainwater in the back of the huts. They cook on rocks under a thatched roof and live in two room houses most without electricity. These photos show them dressed in their new clothes holding their bags of goodies and their happiness shows in their huge smiles. Bob and I visit their homes and bring things to make their lives a little easier and hopefully, happier.

This has become our great passion

These children are always happy to see us!
The world is full of families whose lives may not be quite as abundant as ours. During our vacations, we enjoy their sunshine and try to leave a little happiness behind by way of small gifts and useful items. Love is the common denominator for all people in the universe.
